Scientist Geologist Position (Full-Time)

We specialize in groundwater and soil remediation of petroleum products. MEA has its own laboratory and Geoprobes, as well as a host of mobile remediation systems. We are a quality-oriented, "hands-on" firm that has been in business for over 20 years.

About the Job
We are currently looking for a Geologist/Environmental Scientist with 3 to 7 years of consulting experience in the environmental industry. Must have a strong environmental background pertaining to site investigations/characterizations; groundwater monitoring; groundwater/soil sampling; soil gas surveys; data quality/data evaluation; remedial design; and, remediation implementation. Environmental related consulting experience should include soil and groundwater sample plan development, documentation of field activities; analytical data review; interpretation of environmental regulations; and, technical report writing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. If the candidate is already pursuing, or already has, a Pennsylvania Professional Geologist (PG) License, this will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation of work plans, risk assessments, Phase I, Phase II Environmental Assessments, health and safety plans, etc.
Regulatory interface, compliance and closure.
Report writing and review, including the following:
Ø PADEP Chapter 245 Site Characterizations and Remedial Action Plans
Ø PADEP Chapter 245 Remedial Action Progress Reports
Ø PADEP Chapter 245 Remedial Action Completion Reports
Ø PADEP Act 2 Final Reports
Coordination and performance of field activities. Some travel may be required/typically one-day trips.
Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
Ability to perform and lead field work (drilling oversight, geologic interpretation, contractor/construction oversight, soil/groundwater sampling, etc).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related science
Strong Writing and Communication Skills
Experience in developing, costing, and managing a wide variety of projects/tasks
3 to 7 years work-related experience
40 hour OSHA Certification.
Must have a valid driver's license.

Environmental Laboratory Position (full-time)

Environmental Laboratory Position (full-time) - Small environmental company in business for 25+ years is seeking a professionally minded individual for a position in the company’s accredited environmental laboratory. Responsibilities include administrative record-keeping and some technical support tasks. This position requires thorough documentation skills, and a team-based conscientious work ethic. Some laboratory experience is preferred. Experience on GC, GC/MS is a plus. Valid driver's license is required.

Position: Environmental Technician

Job Description: Coordinate and execute a variety of field tasks. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, assisting with the collection of environmental samples from various media including soil, groundwater, surface water and soil vapor. Strong mechanical skills are required. Will need to be capable of operating MEA’s direct-push drill rig and Hydrovac units as well as manage the inventory of all field supplies and tools. Will be required to assist with the design, installation, and maintenance of project remediation systems. May assist with monitoring/recovery well installation, and site surveying. Position requires approximately 90% field time and possible overnight travel (limited). Forty-hour OSHA training is a plus. Position requires a valid driver’s license.
